I believe the gov needs to focus on what every citizen can benefit from instead of only a few. Sports stadiums are used by very few people when you consider how many people are in Sioux falls vs how many attend a sporting event. Lets stop worshiping stadiums and pet projects and learn how to save the money. When taxes go down, everyone benefits and the economy will prosper. When only a select few of the good ol' boys clubs get the benefits it kills the economy.
Speaking of credit card fees one of our most prominent non profits has spent hundreds of millions of dollars to build multiple sports complexes all in the name of health care. Being a non profit who pays no income or property taxes you would expect that a ticket to watch a youth sports game would not cost $10? Worse yet is they don’t take cash so you must swipe your card and then find out they actually pulled $10.87 from your account! Any possibility these giving folks who pay large numbers of administrators six figure salaries for doing lord know’s what would have negotiated themselves a little kickback from each of those card swipes in return for banning cash transactions???
Is anyone aware of a school board petition circulating that can be advertised to a Sioux Falls School District community Facebook page (3k + members)? Perhaps one hosted somewhere accessible to the wider public? There is interest in that community to sign.
Government spending is a rachet, it only moves in one direction - up! When will it end? Likely when the US as a political entity collapses. But, that could be many years in the future
